3 tips for feeling OK about time

  1. Start by paying attention to what you do; when you do it, and how long it takes. You can scribble in a notebook, track it in a spreadsheet or download Vanderkam’s ‘time makeover’ guide.
  2. Armed with knowledge you need to turn anger into acceptance. You may be frustrated at wasting writing opportunities, or feel sadness at being so squeezed. Either way, come to terms with how much or how little control you have over your time.
  3. Now you can figure out what to do with that time. It may involve making trade-offs, having hard conversations with family members, negotiating with your bosses. Gain control over what time you have and let go of what’s beyond your influence.
